When this work is done best.
Front-of-house work is scheduled around dry ground and access for demolition equipment.
Best window
- • May through October gives the most reliable conditions for removal, base work and paver setting.
- • Booking in late winter or early spring generally secures earlier season install dates.
Workable window
- • Early spring and late fall are workable when the ground is thawed and the base can be compacted.
- • Driveway work requires enough dry time for the deeper base to be built and compacted in lifts.
Weather
- • Concrete or asphalt removal continues in light rain; base compaction does not.
- • Joint sand activation and sealing require a dry forecast window.
Site conditions we check
- • Vehicle access needs and how long the driveway can be out of service.
- • Street parking or staging space for the dumpster and material pallets.
- • Slope from the garage or entry and where runoff currently goes.
- • Existing settlement or heaving, which points to base or drainage issues to correct first.
When we postpone
- • Saturated subgrade under the existing surface.

How to prepare
- • Plan alternate parking for the days the driveway is out of service.
- • Move vehicles, trailers and equipment from the work area.
- • Confirm irrigation, lighting and private utility line locations.
Aftercare
- • Wait for our confirmation before parking vehicles on a new driveway surface.
- • Avoid turning wheels in place on new pavers while joints are still setting.
- • Expect a joint sand top-up after the first season on high-traffic areas.
Why timing matters: Driveways carry vehicle loads, so the base has to be built dry and in compacted lifts. Timing the work for firm ground is the difference between a flat drive and ruts.
